Trying to beat the blues.

Some days you just don't know why....nothing specific has gone wrong, no one sick or hurt, no bad news...its just a "hard to beat the blues" day. I can usually pick myself up and dust myself off and go on with it, but today nothing is working!

In fact, I should be happy. I packed the winter scarves and snow coats away and even put some of the outdoor furniture on the patio! Oh, and there were no bills in the mail today..not one! I even think everyone is home this evening. Sometimes you just can't fight it.

I did find this article and thought I would try a few of the tips. Thought you all might enjoy them too.

"Just for today, I will be happy."

It sounds easy, but we all know it is not that simple. Here are some ways to help you lift your spirits.

1. Laugh! Yes, laugh! Find something to laugh about. Read jokes on line. Listen to funny music. Call a friend and say "tell me a good joke."

2. Get outside. Even if you just sit on a front porch stoop, it will feel better than wallowing in your self pity inside the house. Watch the birds.

3. Be active. Go for a short walk around the block or around the neighborhood.

4. Do something for someone else.

5. If you absolutely insist on wallowing today, do something productive while you are busy with your self-pity. Clean out the garage. Clean out your car. Do something. Accomplishing will make you feel better no matter how grumpy you are during the process.

6. Memorize something happy. Find a poem or an affirmation or lyrics to a happy song.

7. Divide the next hour into ten minute slots. List six things you could possibly accomplish in that hour -- and do them!

Let me know if you have any other ideas for me...
I'm sure I'll wake up tomorrow and wonder why I wrote this post!
