Well, after that exhausting Cross Country meet, (that much cheering can wear you down fast!) we tried to squeeze in as much summer as we could. The rest of the weekend was so gorgeous. We did some additional landscaping around the hot tub on Sunday (great time of year to find cheap bushes!!) and then had probably the final "pond day" of the season on Monday. Had some friends and family over to enjoy the weather and the backyard. We sat outside and I even got burnt. The beers went down really well (and a little too fast!) but, I was still able to get dinner on the table! Traditional picnic fare. Burgers and dogs, pasta salad, watermelon and ice cream for dessert. Why can't we do it like that come the middle of February? Some of the kids, (actually the boys) already thought the pond was too chilly (I think PS3 was calling their name instead!) but the girls didn't have a problem.
The evening ended quietly after cleaning up and everyone headed to their rooms early to make sure they really didn't have homework like they told me.
So now the sand toys are in the attic and the launch pod comes in tonight. Wow! Where do these weeks and months go? I'm sure we will have quite a few more warm days, but we've found no one gets in the water much after Labor day. And the longer we wait, the colder that water is to take that monstrous jumping air mattress in! Who am I kidding? I sit and watch while the kids and Dan drag it and the 100 lbs of weight to shore!)
I am pretty much getting tired of watering and dead-heading all my pots and flowers, but they still look pretty darn good, so it's hard to just let them wither away. I have back yard duty today...front yard tomorrow. It's showing rain for Saturday. Sure would be nice, but maybe it would be nice if Tiffin could stay dry for the race.
Speaking of watering.....their calling my name!
