Running is our Life....officially!

Summer is officially here. The kids are starting to get bored.  We've had two baseball games in three days, swim team practices, PT & Dentist appointments and friends over. We've swam in the pond (already!),  had a few sleepovers, and do you believe it?...they're still bored.

I received via text a few days ago that Jonathan has decided to forgo football and run cross country this fall.  Wow!... Of course, we have all tried to convince him he needs to run CC for the past few years, but we also knew he loves football.  We want him to be happy and make his own decisions, and I know he was really torn with this decision.  I think that he really enjoyed track and came to realize that he can really run when he almost beat Andrew in the 800 meter run. Which means, I have 5 kids right now training for CC season.

Jenna is finally able to run a "work out" this week and Lauren is up to 40 minutes a day. (That is kind of a milestone!)  Natalie while still going to PT, has been released to start running.  She started with a mile and can increase a 1/2  mile a day.  We are crossing fingers.  Zero Pain so far!  Andrew and Jonathan have also started training as in 11 short weeks the three younger kids will be racing in Milton Union.

Jonathan and Andrew both play baseball and basketball but up until now, they really haven't "competed" against each other. It has been safe until now.  I have gone through this before when Jenna and Lauren both competed against each other in CC and Lauren eventually was able to beat out the big sis, but this is a little different.  I hope that in the end, it will make both of them stronger, better runners, and awesome partners! The boys track and cc programs are really on an upswing and I am excited to have a few more involved in something that can be really exciting!

My biggest hope is not for success or even family peace (ok, that would be nice too!), but for healthy, pain free, injury free kids.....alllll season!!
