A Time to Plant

I've been waiting for days like the last few! Sunday, Dan finished tilling Garden 2, and I planted and planted and planted. We now have in the ground: Beans, Peas, Potatoes, Onions, Tomatoes, Peppers, Rhubarb, Lettuce, Canteloupe, Pumpkins, Zuchinni and Squash. Oh, Basil and Oregano too! Both gardens are full. Then, I planted my pots, planted my flower beds in the front yard and cleaned out the outside storage cabinet. Wow, it feels good to have that done.

The concrete people were here yesterday to reseal our patio (we have colored, stamped concrete), so we have to stay off of it for a few days. I also have a winding area around the patio to plant yet, but want to wait until it is cured correctly. Took a couple of dead little trees and growth out and Dan transplanted 3 bushes (ones that kind of outgrew their old homes.)

I'm actually hoping for a little rain tomorrow. That would be perfect timing. It all needs a good rain. Then, Friday, we go to Toledo to pick up Jenna. All day affair. She has had a very busy finals week, as I know she has a 7-10 page paper due tomorrow, an online final and her last final Thursday night. What that translates to is zero packing done! So, we will go with suitcases, boxes and garbage bags and bring it all home. Yuckk! She's sorting everything this time! Some things will go to her bedroom, and everything else down to the basement for 90 days. (Which Dan has to get down and make some room somewhere!)

My list is getting pared down but the dreaded job is now approaching. MULCHING! We will mulch 70-80 trees and every flower bed. It will be a 3-4 day project. Everyone usually helps carry those 5 gallon buckets while one volunteer sits on the back of Grandpa's pick up and fills the buckets. That person ends up black and getting hosed off before allowed to even step foot in the garage!!!

Now, when that project is over, you will see pictures. Until then, your imagination will have to suffice. Let's just say, I get my love of flowers from my father. You can't have too many flowers can you Dad?

Wheelbarrows my dear, much better than 5 gallon buckets. And here I thought we always had to order an excessive amount of mulch. How much do you order?

Last year, we got our mulch from the village... we put 2 full scoops on Dad's pick up and we did that 4 times!
