We managed to clear her dorm room out in a mere 4 hours, then drove home to quickly unload both vehicles, start a quick load of laundry and get to the ball diamonds to see the boys in their first baseball "travel team" game. We missed Andrew's 1st double of the season, but caught his second! Boy, did I sleep good that night.
Then it got really crazy. Saturday morning we put everything of hers where it needed to go, (temporarily that is,) and I did 6 loads of laundry. Jenna and I met Natalie in Anna at the Anna Relays in time to watch her run the 4X4. (no records set in that wind!) We then quickly drove down to UD for her AAU Basketball tournament games. She rested for maybe 40 minutes in the car before she played 2 games...and won 2 games. The best news is that because they won their 2nd game they didn't have to be back until 10 in the morning. (instead of 8!)
Fast Forward. Sunday morning, 8:00 mass, then another trip down to Dayton. Natalie was pretty darn tired, but managed to find a little energy to win another game. So, we played at 12 in the semi-finals. They all ran out of energy in that game. They were disappointed, but it was Mother's Day and a beautiful day at that, so I was actually glad they lost. Sorry, Natalie :) We drove directly to Mom's and the other kids met us there. Spent some time with them, and then headed home to plant. Yes, I planted the rest of my flowers on Mother's Day. The sun was going down when I went in and still had to make dinner. If I thought I was tired Friday night, it was nothing compared to last night.
I am going to share something with you. I am a bit of a wimp when it comes to sleep. I need 8 hours, and I didn't have it Friday night or Saturday night. Six hours does not cut it for me....at all! I managed to sit down around 10 last night to write my To-do list for this week. We are on countdown to Graduation. The list is long!
Which brings us to: Mulching! It is one of those necessary evils. In my opinion, the flowers and beds don't look well until the mulch is down! So, this morning, we borrowed Dad's truck and mulched our little hearts out. The front yard is done. Which takes us pretty much to now. Normally, I would work until the sun goes down, but there was another priority tonight. Remember when I told you how crazy this last month of school is? I forgot to mention the band concert....how could I forget (???..) the annual Spring Band Concert? It was very nice, athough a little long. Those bleacher seats are not very comfortable even on a good day, but after mulching, it was torture.
Jonathan and Andrew looked very dapper in their ties and jackets. Natalie barely had time to come home after practice and shower and eat before they all had to be out the door at 5:45.
This is Jonathan playing the Sax. He even looks like he is trying!! Good Job, Jonathan. I won't tell everyone what happened after you finished playing! :)
This is Andrew playing the trumpet. I can even see his foot tapping like he always does! We are proud of you!
And this is Natalie at her last band concert playing the flute.
So, here we are, another day closer to school being out, closer to graduation, closer to summer. The days seem to be flying by....maybe I need to take some time now to smell my flowers.
