Temporary Peace

I'm actually in my house, typing my blog, all alone.  After having Jenna and Lauren home for 5 days, Thanksgiving at our house, and the kid's friends coming and going, it is finally nice and peaceful.  I worked on Wednesday and that meant the girls, who brought all their laundry they had been saving for a couple of weeks, had their job cut out for them.  Even though I had everyone here for Thanksgiving, Mom still cooked the turkey and dressing, and cranberry jello and pies.  It didn't leave me much to do!

We had one more added to the bunch this year as I have a new niece!  Jillian Marie was born last Friday and was just 6 days old for her 1st Thanksgiving....so sweet! Dan and I kept up our yearly tradition of shopping together on Black Friday.  We were up at 2, out by 3 and in the lines at Walmart in Lima at 4 a.m. We know it's going to be crazy, and if you understand that all going in, it really can be fun!  It does take a tag team to navigate the sales and crowds properly...and your cell phones.  I think this is the worst I ever saw Walmart.  About an hour after the store started the "deals", and many people were in  the checkout lines, I could not even move.  I could see Dan in line, but could not even get to him.  It was absolutely wall to wall people.  No shoving or angry people though.  We were home at 3:30 in the afternoon.  Whew....what a day! I' m definitely not getting any younger.  Shopping sure takes a lot out of you! (or maybe it was just the 3 hours of sleep?)

We tried to get as much family time in as possible, but the girls also wanted to see their friends.  Friends win a lot! Natalie had her first BB game Saturday night, so we caught that and then Sunday was spent with a last family brunch, some last minute laundry for the girls and then pack their car up to head back to Toledo.  You would have thought they had been home for weeks....we couldn't get all their stuff back in the car! How are they going to pack for 3 weeks at Christmas?  Their school year will be half over so soon!  They have 2 weeks of classes left and one week of finals.  They should be home on the 18th or 19th depending on Track practice.

Lauren just called me a few minutes ago.  The friend's car who was stolen, (with all her stuff inside) was found today.  We worked all weekend on getting the paperwork ready for insurance but will have to wait til tomorrow to find out if anything is left.  It was hot wired and the windshield broken and wires and parts taken out all over.  I'm sure not much is left.  So sad.

So, I'm on borrowed time now...Natalie and Dan should be home any minute.  I'm in Englewood tomorrow and Greenville on Wednesday and Thursday.  This travelling stuff is fine for now, but not looking forward to it once the white stuff starts to fall....

Well, I'm done...the garage door is opening....time to start planning tomorrow's schedules....1 7th grade boys' scrimmage in Wapak., 1 Freshman game in Coldwater. Hmmm...Mom and Dad gets dinner alone?
Now that's a new one!
