Freecycle.org

I told you about a new site that I have been frequenting....well, more like it has been frequenting me. It is called Freecycle.org.   It is all about recycling stuff you don't want anymore, but instead of throwing it away at the curb, you post it, and then pick who you want to pick it up.  Or, you post for something that you are looking for, and hopefully someone responds. Or, you watch the emails that come streaming in your inbox for something that sounds interesting.

There are different areas that you can register for.  Darke County, Celina and Shelby County all have one, along with Wapak and Lima.  Obviously the bigger towns have more traffic, so much more is posted on theirs.  I also registered for Toledo, just in the outside chance, something might be close to Jenna and Lauren.  I had to turn down a foosball table last weekend, because of the snow and no one could get over to pick up in time.

I have been looking for a twin over full bunk bed for the boys' room, just to give them a little more space, (and sleeping room), and WoW, last weekend, one was posted in Lima.  We picked it up, put it together and I even called the manufacturer to send me a few missing parts.  Great!

A couple of pointers.  You have to be able to check your email often.  Once something is posted, it is uusally gone pretty quickly. Second, kind of be open.  You don't get pictures, so it is what it is.  At the very least, you freecycle it again, if it doesn't work for you!

Either way, kind of fun, and actually really purposeful.  Spread the word.  The more people out there, the more free stuff!

I was thinking of starting a Minster/New Bremen/Marion site.  What do you think?

Julie, I have heard of this before and think it is a great idea to start one in this area. I know I would use it. Plus it would be great for getting used furniture for college kids.
