Hey everybody! We skipped town! Left early Saturday morning with Natalie, Jonathan and Andrew and headed with Mom and Dad's motorhome to Michigan. It was an easy drive and we drove to Saugatuck first. What a quaint little town! We went to Oval Beach, caught some rays and then walked the streets and shops. We checked out the hundreds of yachts, listened to the live bands that were exuding from the little restaurants and enjoyed the moment.
We actually slept in the local high school parking lot and then went to church Sunday morning and then headed to Holland. Checked out the wooden shoe factory and the windmills. The beach there was gorgeous. I have obviously been to Michigan before, but never really along the west coast. The waves were big enough for the kids to get out their boogie boards, and if you closed your eyes, you would guess you were at the ocean. The sand is not as white as Siesta Key, but hey, 5 hours is no comparison to 16! We stayed at a campground last night, and then walked back down to the beach to watch the sunset...wow! The kids played frisbee, while I sipped some wine and Dan shot some great pictures. Probably one of the best sunsets I've seen in a while. A bright red big ball falling in the sky.

We drove to Grand Haven today and Natalie and I walked the downtown area shops, while Dan and the boys fished along the boardwalk. Pretty chilly today, about 65! We then went to PJ Hoffmaster State Park and learned all about the sand dunes that line this coast of Michigan. This is a picture of the kids on one of the dunes overlooking Lake Michigan.
We checked out the beach there, but too chilly for swimming today. We hiked for awhile and then headed a little farther north and are currently at Silver Lake. We are sitting presently in the campground. Natalie and Andrew are out running and Dan and I are watching the Bachelor.
Jenna and Lauren are holding down the fort...(and sophie!) I will try to update in a day or two. (Yes, we have the laptop....would you expect anything else with Dan close by?) I won't admit we have two of them with us, though, if anyone ever asks! :)
