Mid-Summer?

Summer keeps flying by. I know it is technically mid-Summer, but when the school supplies start hitting Walmart, it makes it kind of hard to concentrate on the summer we have left!

All those plans we made back at the end of May of things we wanted to do have not really been happening. The simple things! We haven't had a fire in the fire pit and made smores...we haven't been to the drive-in, we haven't gone hiking at a nearby park, etc. etc. I finally tonight had my first ice cream cone of the season, so I can cross that off the list!

Jenna and Lauren are working, working, working...La Piazza officially opened. We caught up and had Jenna serve us some amazing Italian food Saturday night. The place has been packed, and I think it is going to continue for awhile. Jenna is working Tues. Wed. Thurs. Fri. and Saturday, both lunch and dinner! So, if you happen to be going, stop and say Hi to her!

Natalie is at Girl Scout camp for a couple of days....as a camp counselor. She was all excited. (All excited to not be able to shower until Wednesday night!) She thought the food would be great and the crafts fun and oh yes, sleeping on the ground in a sleeping bag! You go girl!

Country Concert is over....Lauren was there Thursday through Sunday. She was pretty discouraged Saturday night after the rain. She was sober surrounded by bunches of very drunk people throwing beer and kicking mud. She truly likes country music, though so Sunday was much better. I'm glad it's over, though....

Jenna left early Sunday morning to go to Cedar Point with her Toledo friends and teammates. I could talk today about the seventeen huge roller coasters she went on, but it bothered me before she left!

She stopped in Toledo today and picked out which specific apartment she will be moving into in 4 short weeks. This apartment complex is the same one I moved into when I graduated from UT 24 years ago. It really looks the same too.....their is some comfort for me with that.....it is 4 blocks away from our former home.

The garden is doing good. I have planted spinach three times now, with great results, 'cause I just can't seem to get enough. We have had spinach salad almost every night and I have frozen some for spinach soup this fall and maybe some lasagna florentine. The kids have been helping with the peas and the beans, and I have red tomatoes on the vines....when they start, I'll be busy. I have 16 tomato plants! I'll be letting you all know if I have more than I need!

I did take some pictures last evening of my flowers and yard. If I can get Dan to download them, I'll post tomorrow!
