It was a surprise that both Jenna and Lauren were able to come home last weekend. Their team had their first Cross Country race Friday night, but only the underclassmen ran. Lauren did great for her first college race, and Jenna was very impatiently watching from the sidelines....she wants to race again so very badly. She redshirted both her Indoor and Outdoor Track season because of her injury, so her last race was November of 2008. She is sooo ready!
She was very careful, as I have mentioned many times, regarding not overdoing her training, and being very conscientious about stretching and doing her rehab exercises. She is finally up to her 70 minute runs and normal workouts again. She will race in Williamsburg, Virginia in 3 weeks. Dan was able to go up and watch Lauren run since it was a home meet and then helped them both pack up for the weekend. They all arrived home at 12 p.m. Friday night.
They got up early to go with us to watch CC in Greenville. This will probably be the only race they will be able to see Natalie and Andrew run. (unless we get lucky...) It was a great day for a race and even better when we found out just today (3 days later) that the junior high boys won! Russia originally was declared the winner, but the results were wrong. Andrew led the team and finished 5th of of 330 boys, all Divisions! They had their trophy delivered today. Minster girls competed in the Div. 1 and 2 race and finished 2nd behind a very strong Springboro team. Looks like we just when we get one all healed, another is struggling. Natalie has been having some minor hip problems. She is not racing where she wants to be. Looks like she's in the water for a few days...better to get it healed now, rather than the end of the season.
We had the opportunity after the meet to try Maid Rite burgers in Greenville. It is a Greenville tradition and standby and now we know why! We were privileged enough to have to wait outside in line and witness up close the gum wall....(don't ask!) but the wait and view were worth it! If you have never had one...you must try!
We had no other plans for the weekend. Jenna and Lauren had massive amounts of homework, so they got a couple hours in on Saturday and then almost all day Sunday too! We went (most of us for the 1st time) to Cassano's for pizza Sunday night. Very good! It was nice to just really kick back and enjoy each other with out running around crazy...we didn't "labor" at all. Mom and Dad were gone for the weekend, but managed to have dinner with us on Monday before the girls headed back.
It is quiet here once again. It is homework, homework, homework! The tv is off and the kids are all studying.
So, summer is pretty much officially over. Kind of getting tired of watering and canning and dealing with flowers this time of year. The flowers look the best they have, but this is where I usually get lazy. Pollen count must be high...my headache has been at its worse today. Nothing else exciting to say....this is when I need to learn to just stop......
