Playing Catch Up is never easy!

Well, it's now been a week since the kids started school but it feels like 3 or 4! Sure is strange to have no one home until 5:30 every day. There is a lot more to think about, (or make the kids think about) in the morning. Do they have a snack for after school/before practice? Do they have their running shoes, cleats, water bottles, change of clothes? What about homework, lunch boxes, instruments and back pack's? Whew! The boys just don't understand the planning ahead stuff at all yet...

We had our first Cross Country race last Saturday. Natalie ran the 5K for the 1st time and finished 9th overall and 3rd on the team. Minster girls won easily. This is Natalie and Maria early on (and Coach Jessie on the left.) Jessica had already gone by....notice the next 4 or 5 runners?....Yep, all Minster!

Andrew did well too. He ran his first Jr. High 2 mile race. The Minster team took the opportunity to walk the course before they ran. Obviously, most other teams did not. Very early on, 90% of the runners took a "short cut" and shaved 30-40 yards off the race. We couldn't understand why about 1/4 mile into the race, Andrew and the rest of the Minster team were back...way back! (our guys ran the correct course!)
We found out after the race, that he was pretty mad! He made up for it by running faster than he probably would have...after all, he had over 100 kids (at least) to get ahead of!! Andrew is 603.

Andrew made up quickly, and passed one heck of a lot of kids! He came out of the woods in 5th place.

They entered the track area where I yelled at him to catch the kid in front of him....(about 20-25 yards)...not really thinking he could pull that one out.
Well, sometimes Mom's yelling works. Right here, after hearing me, he kicked it in high gear and started sprinting. He caught the guy with 20 yards to spare...Wow, very impressive. He finished 4rth out of 249. Divisions 1, 2 and 3. Congrat's Andrew!!

Tomorrow is Jonathan's first football game. We were messing with him tonight kind of pretending we couldn't make it. That didn't go over well. We will be there Jonathan....
