Touchdown, Trophy and TLC

Last Thursday was Jonathan's 1st home football game. They played Delphos and won. It was a much better game than the week before. Well, if you ask Jonathan, the game was awesome!! He scored the first touchdown of the game and the season. I personally love football and have been watching it since I was in college, but it is still difficult for me to follow one player instead of just watching the play. I was able to see him run in the touchdown. Great Job Jonathan!

Saturday, we headed to Tiffin for the Carnival. Not just any carnival, but one where there are thousands of runners and thousands more spectators. Andrew ran in his sister's footsteps. (only a little faster!) He won the Division 3 Jr High race with a 11:29. It was a great day for a race and a great day for a win. This is a great place to win a trophy too. They actually put your name on the plaque of the trophy while you wait.
Andrew is just left of center...this is beginning of race....they look like they are coming right at me, doesn't it?
Coming up the hill with the lead.
Way to go Andrew!! Natalie, after not practicing for four days last week to try to recover her hip problem, tried to race. She did not finish well, and is also not practicing this week. I am taking her tomorrow to the orthopod to rule out a possible stress fracture of her hip. It has been frustrating for her to not be able to run what she knows she is capable of, but sometimes things happen for reasons we can't see...(yet...) She has been swimming instead of running until we find out the results. Meanwhile, she has been icing her hip faithfully and praying that she can run again soon.

I have been starting the "end of summer" tasks. I started switching my closet today. We took the Launch Pod out and deflated all the floaties and pond toys. The baseball equipment was put up in the attic. I condensed some of my pots and will slowly get rid of my annuals as they start to yellow and look bad. It sure didn't feel like fall today, though! It was a wonderfully warm and sunny 85 degrees. I don't want to admit this, because I absolutely love summer and the heat and all that comes with it, but I'm actually looking forward to one of those days where I can make some homemade soup & bread and bake a pie and not have everyone complain because it makes the kitchen 90 degrees.

I know, I know, .... it will be here soon enough.
