This is the longest I have gone with out posting. I have the urge to go back and start from where I left off, but I simply cannot cram all that in, so I will summarize and then I am going to promise to myself to try to post a little more often.
Octoberfest was not one of my top 10 Fests, but it did have it moments. Hmmm, like the cabbage rolls, the metts, the cheesecake (new for me this year, and really good!) and of course the funnel cakes. Notice I did not say the Beer?
It was nice to have Lauren home and the Jenna for Sunday.
My niece, Janae was crowned Little Miss Oktoberfest. How fun and exciting for her. She was so sweet and acted so grown up all weekend. Great job Janae! Lauren had to help with the Little Miss contest and then speak at Opening Ceremonies. I was very proud of her short speech. She then helped with the Miss Oktoberfest and I must admit, one year really made a difference. She sure grew up since last year. The crown and sash is put away, but I'm sure those memories will last a lifetime for her.
Meanwhile, Jenna was running in Chicago and Andrew ran and won the Botkins race Saturday morning. We were all a little everywhere that day!
A bunch then ran again in the 10K on Sunday norning. It was a couple of years since anyone here has gotten an age group award, but this year it was Lauren and Andrew, both 2nd in their age division. They received very nice painted wooden shoes....big ones. Very Impressive!
This week I was in training in Columbus for a part time position I have taken. I will be working on behalf of the Ohio Department of Aging conducting interviews at Skilled Nursing Facilities and Nursing Homes throughout Northwest Ohio. I had 3 days of pretty intensive training and came home pretty exhausted. I am looking forward to this position.
Today was the Lion's Invitational in Coldwater. Andrew again had a very good race and came in second with a PR time of 11:19, eight seconds off of his best time (in the rain). He was .02 off the the same Crestview 8th grader that beat him at the Van Wert meet. I'm sure he would like those last 100 meters over again...
The Minster High School girls are "lookin' good." Even though we have been ranked first all year, this is the first meet that we looked as though we deserve to be there! Most of the the top seven shaved off time and we beat a good Coldwater team. Next week will be the end for Andrew as the MAC meet is Thursday. Hopefully, all the Minster runners can continue to drop a little more time and the junior high teams can finish with a couple of championship titles....Wow, should I be brave and call a sweep? Junior High and Varsity?.....Girls and Boys?.....Have we ever done that? hmmm...Could be fun next week!
Jonathan had his last home Football game tonight. I missed it, but he had a good run and caused a fumble and recovered the ball....I wish I could be everywhere and see everyone...
