It's January 3rd already?

How exactly did I get anything done whene I had five kids say, under the age of 10? It has been way too crazy around here.  Natalie and Jonathan and Andrew have had BB tournaments and/or practices almost every day and Jenna and Lauren are also creating lots of laundry with their daily or twice-daily workouts, so between laundry and cooking, (they are really hungry kids with all that acitivity), I have been busy.

Christmas was great at our house. We made a change this year and instead of the children's mass on Christmas Eve followed by dinner, we had an early dinner, followed by mass.  We have a Fausey family tradition now and get all the good china and crystal out for Christmas Eve dinner.  We have soup, salad, main course and a couple of choices for desssert.  Last year, Sam joined us and this year, Natalie's boyfriend.  We joke and make predictions on who will be around the table next Christmas Eve. We even video part of it...I think it's time to watch the last couple of years! Yes, all of us together and even enjoying each other's company too!

The day after Christmas though wasn't so great!  Andrew, Jenna and myself all came down with the flu.  I did not leave my bedroom for 30 hours.  Awful.  The other two were "down" for about 2 days, but I'm not exaggerating that my stomach is still not back where it should be.  I did not eat for 4 days and then only soup and jello for a few days after that.  I would've bet a few more would have joined in on the fun, but  they were lucky... real lucky.

So, needless to say, New Years Eve was pretty quite here.  We watched a movie on the couch and I was in bed by 12:15. Jonathan and Andrew had a friend over and they stayed up until 8:30, (a.m. that is!) Jenna had a friend from school come for the night so I got up and made a real brunch...  belgian waffles with our new flip-style waffle maker.    I made a double batch and then sat there for an hour finishing all the batter.  We now have enough for 2-3 more breakfasts in the freezer.  Way better than eggo's!

The tree is down, and other than a few snowmen, Christmas is all put away here.  Religion starts back up today and school for the younger ones tomorrow.  Jenna and Lauren do not start classes for another week, but have to be back to school on Wednesday for practice.  They have an indoor meet next weekend.

Even though it is about 4 degrees outside right now, the sun is shining beautifully (for the first time in a long time!) Today will be spent checking backpacks and homework assignments and projects due this week.

Let's see, the ironing board is still out.  I ironed while they were at the boy's game last night, but got lazy and quit after 2 1/2 hours....I still have 5 pair of pants left.  A mom's gotta do what a mom's gotta do...
