Mid-January Blues

It is that time of the year.  Cold, damp, snowy, foggy, dark, dreary, soggy, slushy...yuckkk!!

Can you tell I hate Winter?  I was planning ahead and thinking of planting my garden Friday, while I was making vegetable soup with potatoes, (still from this years garden), green beans and peas, (this years garden) and homemade tomato soup base....ya, from this year's garden.  I'm sure we will eat our way through everything still in the deep freeze.  Getting close to the end of the potatoes though....one more meal and maybe one more batch of potato soup.  Can't complain....it is halfway through January!  I froze blueberries this summer when Aldis had them for $1 a pint and took one of those out the other day.  Mmm...good right out of the bag, and then made a blueberry/banana protein smoothie for me and the kids....very good!

January is moving along...Basketball and more basketball, oh, and a little running!  I surprised Lauren yesterday and went to BG to watch her run. Went to Jackson Center first and watched the first half of the boys' game and then quick hit the road.  I literally walked in and saw her at the starting line with her yellow ribbon in her hair.  I yelled quick to let her know I was there!  I originally told her we wouldn't be coming because the boys had a game and Natalie was across the state playing BB.  I picked a good day to surprise her...she told me she figured I might show up!!   Wheww! So, I did get to see both Lauren and Jenna and even bring some of that homemade soup up the them!

Jonathan and Andrew are at a Jr. High dance tonight and Natalie is a friends watching a movie.  Dan and I are home alone, both on our computers. I become a bit of a hermit in the winter....if i'm not at a BB game in the evening, I'm home.

The good news is those days are getting a little longer every week! I noticed that at 6 p.m. the other day there was still light....its a coming!
