Feeling my Age!

Another whirlwind weekend over! It started Thursday night when Dan picked up the Uhaul and we started packing Lauren's furniture and "stuff" while she was at work. All the other kids seemed to have important places to go, so we were on our own.  It was well after dark before we came in, showered and tried to get to bed early for a very long day ahead.  Of course, moving days always seem to be raining or hot, and again, we had one of Toledo's hottest, or shall we say, most humid days of the summer.  We started unpacking at 11 a.m. and I was able to lay down at 1:15 a.m., the next morning! The good news, though is her apartment and room is done! There were 12 people moving three girls, so we seemed to be on top of each other most of the day, but all in all, it was a fun, productive 2 days! Dan and Jenna headed back with the UHaul Friday night, and I stayed with Lauren to help with some additional unpacking and decorating.

Her Living Room that night!
Her bedroom....painted and ready for a year of studying and sleeping!
This is furniture I found on Craigslist that we refinished!
It turned out absolutely beautiful!
So, Lauren decided to come back with me, as we accomplished so much, and she really didn't have much to do up there.  We arrived back in Minster at 5:30 only to quick shower and spend a few minutes hearing about the boys' camping trip and Natalie's camp preparations, to head out to dinner for my birthday. We managed to hit the alumni tourney for about an hour and then literally crashed into bed about midnight.   Yesterday, I was hoping for a layed back kind of day, but I had 7 hungry people after church and Natalie needed laundry done before she left for CC camp at 3:30.  I literally got her out the door, and started dinner.  I was so darn tired I could hardly stand, but managed to make a wonderful Pesto Chicken Pasta, my favorite zuchinni casserole, corn on the cob, garlic toast and watermelon.  It was oh, so wonderful! I did sit down a little after dinner, but somehow seemed to get caught up in straightening up the house, folding laundry, and all the little details that didn't get looked after while I was gone for 2 days!

So, we are down to one week left before school starts.  The boys are at CC practice, Natalie at CC camp until Thursday afternoon, and after I send Jenna and Lauren back to Toledo this morning, I maybe can find a little normality in my next few days. I had three people tell me yesterday there are all kids of tomatoes ready and I think my beets and the last of the potatoes are ready to be dug up. I think I can get by without watering today, so that saves me at least an hour.  Oh, but Lauren wanted me to paint a lamp before they leave...and look for some dishes, so maybe it'll be better tomorrow.  Either way, I realized I can't quite keep up and do the things as fast as I did when I was a little younger.....is that what birthdays are for? If so, I was reminded repeatedly this weekend!
